Issue:

In Google Chrome on Windows 8 64 bit Some text is not readable ( just strange signs, glyphs)[divider]

Details:

That does not happen in Firefox, Internet explorer and on my iOS 7 iPhone 4s. But does happen on my windows 8.1 64 bit laptop and windows 8 64 bit PC.
Example:

https://www.facebook.com/AndreBober

Below my name Facebook display “Alternate name” in brackets and As you can see instead of ( Andrzej Bober ) you can see

[custom_frame_right shadow=”on”]Unreadable letters in chrome 2[/custom_frame_right]

Solution I tried:

Reinstalling Google Chrome – Did not work
Changing font settings and encoding – Did not work
Removing a lot of other software installed on the computer – Did not work
Switching on/Off Clear Type – Did not work
Removing ALL Google Chrome extensions – Did not work
Deleting cache etc.- Did not work[divider]

Solution that solved my issue (workaround):

To get chrome to work without strange unreadable text I had to edit custom.css file for Google Chrome.
File is located on my windows 8 and windows 7 computer in:

 C:\Users\[your user name]\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\User StyleSheets\custom.css

Normally it is empty. You need to edit it in notepad and paste the line:

 @font-face { font-family: 'helvetica neue'; src: local('Arial'); }

After that close your Chrome browser and open again.
Navigate to page you had issue with or to https://www.facebook.com/AndreBober
All Back to normal.
